When You Fear

Psalms 143:4

I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. NLT

Have you ever struggled with fear of what could happen?  Has that fear froze you where you could do nothing?  This is what the psalmist is speaking of in this verse.

I wish that I could say that I have not experienced this, but I have.  Usually this fear is based on past experiences and or threats made against us.  Your emotions tell you that bad things are going to happen.  You even feel the hurt as if it did happen to you.  Anxiety sets in along with panic and worry.  Could this be God warning us of what is going to happen?  Or is it the evil one trying to steal our joy and peace?

Almost always this comes from satan who is trying to bring us down.  He wants to get our focus on bad things and off God.

The Bible tells us that God does not give us fear.  So, fear is from the evil one.

How do we battle this when it happens?  I recommend that you focus on God’s promises.  He promises to provide for us, to love us, to give us more than we can ever ask or imagine and to protect us.  We must press into God and push away fear.  Love and peace cannot exist with fear.  So, choose to love.  Choose peace in all situations.  And yes, give the situation to God who can and will take care of it and us.  If it persists, then get with a friend and pray with them about it.

The following verse sums all this up.  I choose a strong mind and love.  How about you?

2 Timothy 1:7

For God, did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.   NLT
