Wives be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her. NASB
My son got married last weekend. I listened as the traditional vows and 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, the love chapter was read. It struck me that most people do not really know what marriage is all about. Yes, love is important, but what do you do when you can’t love the person that you married? What do you fall back on? Or do you divorce and move on as over 50% of this country does?
It is not about submission to your husband. It is about becoming the woman of God that you are meant to be. Only God can show you how to love your husband. The same is true for men. Men you must seek God first and then He will show you how to love your wife.
Men, do you love your wife enough that you would give your life for her? Would you really do it? This is the standard of love that you must strive for. You can do it, but only through a relationship with Christ that is alive and active.
What does it mean to be the head of the family for the husbands? In the final analysis, the husband is responsible for the Spiritual life of the family which includes the wife. Then you ask why there are so many women that go to Church without their husbands? If it is the man’s responsibility, why are so many women carrying the family to Church without the husband? The simple answer is that Satan has attacked the family by turning the men away to other things other than God. He is trying and succeeding in many families with this tactic. Men, raise up and lead in your marriage by taking the family to Church. Seek God in all that you do. Then and only then will you be the husband that you should be.
I believe in marriage. It can only survive if both man and woman put God first in their lives and depend upon Him for guidance in life.
I Corinthians 11:11
