Obedience

Acts 5:29

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than man.  NASB

A couple of months ago on the IHOP’s, International House of Prayer, Facebook page, one of their pastors posted the following:

I always seem to forget that God is responsible for the results and I am responsible to be obedient.

This stopped me in my tracks.  It is so true.  All we have to do is to be obedient to God with His commandments and leading in our lives and the rest is in God’s hands.  This really takes the pressure off of us in our daily lives.  If we will simply follow God, the day should be easy.

Why do we struggle some days?  I believe that it is because we are doing what we want and not what God’s will is for us.  For example, if you are a planner like I am, you start your day with a list to be completed.  The goal is to get everything done so you are successful.  The mistake that we make it not praying and asking God first what we should do that day.  Also, we must be flexible enough to let God’s Spirit lead us throughout the day and do what He brings into our day.  It may be something that we consider an interruption to our time line that is very important to the person that God wants to touch through us.  How many missed opportunities has you had in the manner?

The first step of change is always recognizing that you made a poor choice.  Then confess to our Father in heaven this shortcoming.  The hard part is doing different tomorrow.  I ask God to remind me of this several times per day.  I have also learned to laugh at myself when my plan is changed by God and look forward to His Way.

I pray the following blessing and wish for each of you:

Romans 16:19

For the report of your obedience has reached to all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.   NASB
