anger

Ephesians 4:31

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you along with all malice. NASB

As I observe people every day, I see a lot of angry, bitter people. The subject of their anger and bitterness is unique to each person, but the problem is the same.

What makes you angry? My top three list for things that can make me angry are ungrateful people, liars and people that accuse you of doing what they are guilty of. What are yours? Have you ever stopped to consider what makes you angry? This is the first step towards dealing with your anger. You must acknowledge and accept that the problem is you not what makes your angry.

Anger leads to bitterness. Many people do not understand bitterness. It is like cancer. It destroys and takes over your life. It is definitely a bad thing that you do not want. What are you bitter about? Examine yourself, make a list and overcome it. If you do not pull out bitterness from your life like pulling up a plant with all of its roots, you will be unhappy, unhealthy and others will not want to be around you because of it.

I see slander as a result of bitterness. We slander someone when we talk bad things about them or to them. It is intentional ugly words to hurt and destroy. This is also a bad thing. We must stop this in our lives. It has been said to me that blessings and curses cannot come out of your mouth at the same time. So, bless people. Speak good things and truth into their lives.

Malice is the desire to cause pain, injury or stress to someone. Again, I believe that this is often a result of being bitter about something. It has also been defined as intending to do evil towards a person. It is a bad thing. Flee from evil which includes malice. Do good and be faithful. Our Lord will take care of us and help us.

God encourages us with the following truth:

Psalms 103:8

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in loving kindness. NASB
