1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing. NASB

I have two friends who are inspirations to me right now. They are ordinary women who love and trust God.

The first who we will call Ellen is a senior citizen who has chronic back pain. She now has problems with her digestive system and is waiting for tests to see what is happening there. I was following up on Ellen’s prayer request on the back pain when she inspired me today. She is happy that she can now walk and will get home to Southern Illinois soon. She also thanked me for the weekly prayer requests that she gets because she is on the prayer team for this ministry. She said, “I am encouraged by the weekly opportunity to pray for others.” If only we all considered it pure joy to serve in intercessory prayer!

The second who we will call Tammy is a friend of mine who has lung cancer. Tammy only has a 10% chance of survival according to the Doctors. This weekend she spoke at her Church. Tammy is believing, praying and saying that she is healed in the name of Jesus. She wants all of us to have the peace of mind that God has given her at this time. Tammy also shared the following acronyms in her testimony:

HOPE is Helping Other People Everyday.

JUST DO IT is Jumping Up Satan’s Territory Delivering Oppressed Into Truth.

She lives by these. Tammy went on to explain that we must be the hope for others every day that is our job. It can be prayer or doing something for them. We must also just do it to rescue people from the snare of satan. This is also our job as Christians. Even though Tammy is fighting for her life, she is helping others and delivering them from sin. If only we all had Tammy’s peace of mind and clarity to be the hope and deliverers for people.

You are thinking that you can’t even help yourself let alone someone else. Do you have cancer or chronic back pain? These women of God are serving even with their issues because they know the truth of God. This truth is that we must dwell with the Lord every minute of every day. We must gaze into His eyes for our hope, strength and love. We must be prayer intercessors for others and ourselves. Pray without ceasing. That means at all times in all things we must pray.

The following verse further encourages us:

Matthew 21:22

All things you ask in prayer, believing you will receive. NASB
