Trustworthy Saying

2 Timothy 2:11-13
This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with Him, we will also live with Him. If we endure hardship, we will reign with Him. If we deny Him, He will deny us. If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny who He is. NLT
I love these verses because it shows the true character of God. God is always faithful in all things, every time. We can be unfaithful to God, but He remains faithful to us. You may be thinking, how can I be unfaithful to God? We do it a lot. I got a call from a friend today who asked for prayer for his spouse. He felt betrayed by her because she chose money over his health. Every time that we choose anything over God, we are unfaithful to Him. Ouch!
How can we be more faithful to God? Obedience is the key. If we make choices based on His Word and will, then faithfulness comes naturally. If we do what we want or think, then we are unfaithful much of the time.
We must follow God in all areas of our lives. In our work, in our home, in friendships and in church, we must put God’s will before ourselves.
You may be thinking that you have never denied God! How about when you knew a friend was doing something against God’s will and you were silent? How about when you said nothing when others used the Lord’s name in vain? None of us are perfect, but we must try to be and correct it when we fail. That is true good character and will bring more faithfulness into your life.
God is holy and honorable. His glory lights up the heavens. He is faithful even when we are not. Please stop right not and confess how you have failed. Then praise our Lord for all the good things that He is, especially His faithfulness!
